Prosaic,

I think this is a very intersting photo. I wonder about the person - what their life is like. I feel a little like they are hiding something behind the digital effects and dark eyes, it seems mysterious to me.

Hi MD,

>MD> Most of my feelings have already been expressed by others....but what really makes the picture have an impact, for me, is the title.... Just that alone makes my mind whirl with intrigue...

Thanks; I do think titles (of literature, too) are important and I do mull over them for some time.

>MD> And the picture to me was (and I believe someone else put it similarly) of someone shutting themselves away, but more for another's benefit then their own...

Brill! Thanks.

>MD> Kind of creepy but very neat...

Brill 2 and thanks 2 Smiley

Hi ren,

Thanks for returning.

>R> lolol. . .regarding your mirror comment --while I had a feeling this was an altered picture of you. . .I did not interpret it as being "you". . .but rather simply based on what the photo said to me. . .

LOL It is neither me in image nor an interpretation of my psychological state. I tend to avoid autobiographical, save in a few special poems. No, this chap is a relative of mine. He is much better-looking than I.

The mirror comment, in my reply to you, however, is rue - i hate looking in the mirror  so many better views available.

>R> mind/body connection -- much research has been done that indicates the correlation between what happens in the mind, emotionally, psychologically, and what appears in the physiology of the body. . .

Heck, I'm stuffed then!

>R> i.e.  inner stress that causes outer manifestations such as skin disease or hair falling out. . .

There is skin disease genetically in my family - and my Mother (who suffered from it very severely) always saw it flare-up dramatically hen she as stressed - which, of course, stressed her still further).

Hair falling-out? emm... don't think I'll say anything there!

>R> therefore, my interpretation viewing what appears to be someone locking themselves away (and yes the rest of the expression showing apathy to me) with indifference. . .and that indifference after a period of time. . .from a mind perspective. . .begins to affect the body.

Right, understood, thanks.

>R> Again. . .it most certainly could be fear that causes the "close off". . .yet. . .often with much of the same result to the physiology of the body. . .

Yes, true.

>R> anger, depression, anxiety. . .also very closely linked to heart problems. . .another mind/body connection. . .

Gosh, looks like there is no hope - The Man Who, If He Ever Was, Won't Be For Much Longer!"

>R> Hope that helps.

Yes thanks Ren, I understand far butter now. Appreciated.

PS The subject of the photograph is very laid-back and engaging - so I am especially delighted you see so much in this much-changed image. I'm reet chuffed, lass, actually.

Hi Ren, Thanks for your visit and comments,

>R> The eyes feel like shutters to me. . .a shade pulled down over so that both no one can see in. . .and the man cannot see out. . .

Great interpretation.

>R> which keeps him trapped, self-imposed. . .a condition of apathy. . .

(or terror? - though the rest of the expression may  support apathy.)

>R> wherein. . .the rest of the outer self deteriorates as well. . .for when one will not face a visual of the self

Well, I have not looked in a mirror for years!

>R> and interaction from within with what it without. . .the mind/body connection takes over. . .

Still working on understanding that one, sorry?

Thanks muchly, Ren. Most interesting.

Hi Nas,

Thanks for commentating.

>N> An intriguing working of the photograph.  It almost looks as he has had his skin peeled off and you can see every muscle, vein and sinew... It does feel as if he has had his eyes scratched out, which I find somewhat disconcerting.  Not so much the man who never was but the blind man who cannot see what's going on around him.

Fantastic! Thanks. Glad it had such an impact.

(Yes I had most of those thoughts, too.)

The original "The Man Who Never Was" actually was but was being made to seem as if he were (was) not. Hence the title.
(It was a WWII British Intelligence false-info plant prior to D-Day).

Thanks again, P.

The Man Who Never Was

Sorry about the (C) writing - though I trust PT I shall have to put this on all main images in future, wherever displayed. Hope it does not ruin it for you! (Might improve it). This is 20% resolution.

This is my current PT avatar.

Comments / crits welcomed.

Thank you.
