There was an interesting programme on tv recently, showing excavation in Jamestown and how the first pilgrims lived.  It was fascinating.

Fascinating, thank you.

You will easily be able to establish what sort of tree it is (should you wish) when the leaves emerge. Oak was used for thousands of years for building boats - I do not know, but would imagine, the Mayflower was probably made of oak as well.

The Mayflower originally set-sail from Southampton (it docked at Plymouth, UK en route). I live about twenty-two miles from Southampton - and in that city the main theatre is called "The Mayflower."

It's a small world... much smaller than when the Mayflower and Speedwell set sail.

I am fascinated by history, so thank you again.

Firstly the vibrant colours - green and blue - stunning. The only way we would achieve a sky like that is to hie a long ladder and paint the ozone layer in blue gloss.

I've never seen wild turkeys either - turkeys are, of course, a north American bird. We do, however, have plenty of over-bloated farmed ones here but few wild ones - and, as far as I know - non actually in the wild.

How tall is the tree and what is it? Sounds fascinating. 

Can you actually write whilst staffing the shop or do you stay-on after hours?

Of the two shots - both fine-looking in their ways - the former appeals to my rural instincts more. Having said that, your shop appears to be housed in a very fine building - much better than all these modern constructions.

My beautiful tree is a delight - it is beautifully bare and  starting to show signs of blooms now, in the summer will provide beautiful shade on the square and then in the winter, the town decorates it with fairy lights that twinkle during the winter season
