Far nicer than the beautiful view I have at work.  Actually, I can't see a window unless I look through to the other office and then it is of the bypass around the town centre.  Too noisy and dirty to open a window.  No energy at all.

Very fortunate to have a lovely view, it can get noisy with traffic, but it just means we are busy!

Plymouth looks a place full of character. It has lots, full of history, with Indian, Pilgrims and Revolutionary War history turned mill town and now very much a tourist destination

What do you sell in your shop Patrice?[ b]crystals, books, pendulums, tarot cards, runes, incense, wands, jewelry, athames, scrying bowls and mirrors, singing bowls, fairies, are some of the items, we also do readings (tarot and rune)[/b]

There was an interesting programme on tv recently, showing excavation in Jamestown and how the first pilgrims lived.  It was fascinating.

http://www.channel4.com/history/microsites/T/timeteam/thisweek.html

We have some original houses still standing from the original pilgrims, a reproduction of the original village (the original village  was just a block away from my shop) a musuem that has a lot of artifacts from the voyage and of course the reproduction of the Mayflower

Hi Patrice,

Fascinating, thank you.

You will easily be able to establish what sort of tree it is (should you wish) when the leaves emerge. Oak was used for thousands of years for building boats - I do not know, but would imagine, the Mayflower was probably made of oak as well.

There are lots of poplars around, but I think that one is an oak

The Mayflower originally set-sail from Southampton (it docked at Plymouth, UK en route). I live about twenty-two miles from Southampton - and in that city the main theatre is called "The Mayflower."

It's a small world... much smaller than when the Mayflower and Speedwell set sail.

I am fascinated by history, so thank you again.

I am fascinated by history as well, and love being among so much history - I added a picture of the building my shop is in, the house was built in the mid 1700's, it's undergone many a transformation so it's not completely restored to original

Hi Patrice,

Firstly the vibrant colours - green and blue - stunning. The only way we would achieve a sky like that is to hie a long ladder and paint the ozone layer in blue gloss. It was a beautiful spring day the last week of April and I took alot of shots in the square that morning.   I was hard pressed to choose which one to use....

I've never seen wild turkeys either - turkeys are, of course, a north American bird. We do, however, have plenty of over-bloated farmed ones here but few wild ones - and, as far as I know - non actually in the wild.
I live a little more than a mile from the ocean and the property backs to a state forest and we have an abundance of wildlife includiing turkeys.... we were very surprised to see this many at one time last year....

How tall is the tree and what is it? Sounds fascinating. The tree is better than two stories... and I believe it's oak but i'm not sure...

Can you actually write whilst staffing the shop or do you stay-on after hours?I write during the slow times... or before hours... I go into the shop early, to get odds and ends done, but sometimes  I write instead.......

Of the two shots - both fine-looking in their ways - the former appeals to my rural instincts more. Having said that, your shop appears to be housed in a very fine building - much better than all these modern constructions.  The shop is in a house that was built in the mid 1700 owned by the Warrens (Mayflower decendents) Mercy Otis Warren who lived in the house who was responsible for the writing of the Bill of Rights  through her writings under the Columbian Patriot, (she is a collatoral ancestor of mine... as it happens 250 years after Mercy moved into the house I moved the shop into the house, she was also a published poet.  )

Thanks Patrice. Most interesting.

Glad you enjoyed....

Nice to see these -- I love the wild turkeys in the yard here. . .not quite as colorful as the peacocks that I used to have in my backyard in Florida. . .but still fun to watch!I never had peacocks in my yard in Florida (yes everyone both Rene and I used to live in Florida about the same time too.... LOL...) but always had Hawks and Buzzards....

And that tree, Nas, is amazing. . .it's huge. . .and beautiful throughout every season!  Truly Patrice's shop is in a wonderful spot. . .

location, location, location you know.  *smile*   Truly blessed with the location of the shop, could not ask for a better spot.....

Hi Patrice

great pictures.

I'm glad you told me the birds are wild turkeys.  I never would have known.
Yes, the turkeys are wild and visit us every year start as babies and we watch them grow!

I like the intense green on the first and the contrast of the bare tree against the blue sky.

My beautiful tree is a delight - it is beautifully bare and  starting to show signs of blooms now, in the summer will provide beautiful shade on the square and then in the winter, the town decorates it with fairy lights that twinkle during the winter season

After Prosaic posted that lovely view from his window in his Tube Shot, I thought it would be fun to see what was out everyone's writing room window to inspire.   I have a tendency to write in two places, my home and shop, so here are two shots.   Hope you enjoy!  Patrice

Twenty Wild Turkeys in the Yard (the house I rent backs up the a state forest)

Downtown Plymouth in Shirley Square  outside my shop window looking up...

My shop - Ishtar's Avalon - Right side of the first floor
