Thanks, Nas,

No not been bluebelling yesterday (Sat) - today may be interesting with everyone down in the woods viewing the bluebells. May wait a couple of days.

Cheers, p.

James,

thanks very much.  Yes, we have some wonderful architecture and ancient woods, though I don't think Robin Hood ventured this far south much.

Sauce - Yes, St Paul's is great.  Haven't been inside it for a few years.

Prosaic - thanks for returning.  I don't think I'd fancy going to the post box in the pitch dark even with a torch.

Did you take photos of the bluebells today?

<P>Ah! I don't jog at all - so easier for me.

>N> Thanks very much Prosaic

Dim Probeo, Nas

>N> I too prefer the second one.  The original had a group of people coming towards me so I had to cut them out.

Ouch!

>N> I like walking around London at night - have even done so at some ridiculous hour of the morning, catching a night bus and arriving home as the sun was rising

Well I was staying in the Barbican YMCA at the time - so had an incentive to go walkabout!

I like going to the post box here on a dark night. And, yes, dawn can be fantastic.

>N> The West End is busy even at around midnight - the last tube is always crowded.

Seems very odd to me with me straw in me mouth!

>F> The Millennium Bridge wasn't too wobbly when I last crossed it.

You are much lighter than I!

>N> Shame you forgot the batteries for your camera yesterday.  The bluebells always look wonderful.

They do; specially with new batteries inserted.

>N> The London pics are taken with my new camera, the forestry ones are with my old one, taken last year.

Your old camera is excellent; your new one fab - those night-shots are amazing for a compact digital.

>N> I don't know about great skill.  My only technique is point, shoot and hope I don't jog too much.

Ah! I don't jog at all - so easier for me.

Well done, Nas.

Those first pics of Piccadilly circus are too much. No architecture like that over here.

And the paths through the woods, I imagine the Normans riding through there, or the Berzerkers. Maybe Robin Hood!

Thanks very much Prosaic

I too prefer the second one.  The original had a group of people coming towards me so I had to cut them out.

I like walking around London at night - have even done so at some ridiculous hour of the morning, catching a night bus and arriving home as the sun was rising

.  The West End is busy even at around midnight - the last tube is always crowded.

The millenium Bridge wasn't too wobbly when I last crossed it.

Shame you forgot the batteries for your camera yesterday.  The bluebells always look wonderful.

The London pics are taken with my new camera, the foresty ones are with my old one, taken last year.

I don't know about great skill.  My only technique is point, shoot and hope I don't jog too much.

Hi Nas,

A fab set of pix.

Of the first two, I prefer the balance in the second.

The other London shots are very good too.

I once walked to St Paul's at about 2230 at night - quite an experience. And when I was at he Millennium Bridge it was wobbling badly. (I must lose more weight)

Of course, as I don't like cities, I prefer the latter pictures. I was in my local bluebell wood yesterday but forgot new batteries for the camera - so your photo is a great reminder, thank you, me duck.

Well done - are these taken with your new camera? Great clarity and colour repro. And, of course great skill!

Thanks very much Tim.

Start saving now.  I'm really glad the pictures entice you.  The sky was amazing and I was so lucky I had my camera with me, though you can never quite capture what you can see.

I love walking over that bridge.  It runs along side the railway and gives a suberb view over London and the South Bank.

The last shot always makes me think of the lamppost in Lion, Witch and Wardrobe.

nas,

This is priceless. I see why they're called tube stations. The fire in the first two pictures is gorgeous; and yet, all of them are wonderful---the bridge shots and the bluebells. Thank you for bringing us along on your walk-about. I definitely have the urge to holiday in London.

The last shot is enticing me to find the road just to walk it. I think I shall start saving. Inspirational.

Namaste,
~Tim

I was out and about in London the other night and took some photos as we walked around.

These first two were taken at Piccadilly Circus at dusk, just before it poured with rain.

We walked to Waterloo station, crossing the Thames.  This first photo is of the Jubilee Bridge.

This one is from the bridge, looking at  the Embankment

and one of the river.  In the distance, centre of the photo, is St Paul's Cathedral.

On the way home, I couldn't resist taking a picture of my underground train arriving at Bank station.  What you can't hear is the announcer warning "mind the gap"

I live in the suburbs and about a fifteen minute walk away are some woods (the grounds of a former mental hospital, now converted to a housing estate).  At this time of year it is full of bluebells.

and finally walking in a nearby forest
