Hi Ren,

Yes, Illumination was a tea light at Blue Note shot completely down right as we were leaving.

I would love to see your Sedona shots. This is a forum that up until recently was under used, even with Vicki's excellent offerings for a few years ago.

Thank you for swinging in.

Namaste,
~Tim

I love taking photos. . .and I am going to learn a lot in this forum. . .wonder why I've never spent much time in here before.  lolol

Love illumination -- bottom of a glass?

And. . .the juxtaposition between the Aldo add and the girls walking was cool as well. . .

As soon as I get my folder figured out. . .I'll put up some pics from Sedona.  And try and convince Patrick to put some of his pics up as well. . .he does some great behind the pic graphics.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for your reply.

So you're a party animal! LOL.

>T>I wanted the play on the slang term 'down' (as in those three models are getting down at a party in the billboard).

Sorry, not a phrase I know - may be generational; may be cultural; may be just me.

>T> I also like the shot, because the two ladies look like they're about to cross the billboard's frame/boundry join that party.

Well, from my perspective, a party was not in mind but I see a city with four people elements:

1. The chap sitting - I did not know he was smoking. To me he doe not look like a tramp because he seems well dressed. I took him to be a young student (perhaps) watching the World go-by as one might expect an old man to do. So that was fascinating.

2. The two young ladies briskly walking. They have as much ignorance of the sitter as he has interest in them.

3. The young man, oblivious of all the other elements, about his businss - very purposeful as the women but I sense doing a job.

4. The poster characters, about to exchange their non-existence with the young women.

So, for me this was all about the edge of reality; the edge of our perceptions.

>T> Or the fact that the young man was sitting down; yet, more importantly, he looked down on his luck. He didn't have that defeated look...that might come later.

Well, his face is turned from us - so no idea what his look is.

>T> He wasn't panhandling.

Sorry, you have me again - I don't know the word.

>T> He was just sitting on the sidewalk, resting...or maybe waiting. Not fitting in with the action/energy levels around him.

Yes, though I saw his a tad more active - actually observing. (Hey congratulate me - I have heard the word "sidewalk"! - I actually know what it means - there is hope for me yet! :) [UK = "pavement"]

>T> I wanted the pic to show this counterpoint. If it doesn't come across, that's fine.

Actually, I think your picture shows many counterpoints - between all four elements within the urban-scape.

>T> I'm happy with it and that's what matters the most (everyone else liking it is a close second...*wink*).

Well, as  said, I like it muchly. However, what you just said is precisely what you and I were saying to Diane - the artist must be happy with what they produce - then simply hope others like it too.

Cheers Tim and well done and thanks again.

prosaic,

Yes, I chuckled when I titled 'selfportrait'. We were at a restaurant near Norm's house on Sunday. Our table had a mirror at the end, next to where I was sitting, so I snapped that off. My arm is in the pic with the camera...and...on a certain level, those shown in the pic are a part of writing; and consequently, they're a part of me.

'Down...' has no modifications. That's a clean shot, too (in fact, Happy 3rd Anniversary is the only altered pic in this post/set). I was hustling across the street to get to Poet's House and I saw that young man sitting there, smoking a cigarette. I wanted an image of him taking a drag, but this one of him looking up at the young ladies passing worked out.

Oh, yes, Peek-a-boo does have an aardvark in it. Karen was taken by him. I snapped that at the N.Y. Museum of Natural History. Plenty of animals about. Including Karen and myself.

Thanks, yet again for checking these out. Your comments (as well as everyone else's) give me food for thought.

Namaste,

Hi Tim.

As I don't think I see you on "Self-Portrait" - is the title ironic?

"Peek A Boo" is almost too blurred for my taste but is very clever with the multiple images and the surreality of the aardvark (it is he?)

"Anniversary," using a colour solarization / posterize is well executed.

My fav though - and my second fav overall (behind the St Bernards) is "Down" - I appreciate it probably took far less processing than some but it is superb. It has reality meeting fantasy in so very many ways.

Well done,

p.

Tim,

An email I just received from a site I subscribe to prompted me to think of you...I believe I have something of interest, finally, to offer you.

http://www.photojojo.com This is a site I subscribe to, I  think you will enjoy going through its archives, and is how I learned of the sites below.

http://labs.wanokoto.jp/olds (ages uploaded images)

http://vectormagic.com (rasterizes? images...when I first learned of this it was free and they also offered a free download version which I still have - it appears they have gone commercial but do check it out - if you want the download I would be happy to share.

Tim,

These are all good. I especially like the multiple image effect in peek-a-boo and the creative pose in happy 3rd, along with the enhancement that you made to it. Nice.
