Vicki, I would like to comment/critique the photos but I do not know what kind of feedback you are looking for.  For example it appears that they (both photos) are well exposed and in focus.  (As simple as a task that this is, I have come to appreciate the enormity of the enterprise.)  You clearly had intent when composing the picture.  However, I would say that the indoor lamp photo is not about the juxtaposition, or if it is it seems to me that perhaps another angle or different lighting would bring this out.  I also think that in situ photos like this are difficult because of the logistics of the room.  If the photo is about the lamp then crop the other stuff away.  Having clarity of vision is the hardest of all skills to achieve.  The snow covered branch, lit with an on camera flash is not as interesting as it could be.  Perhaps by putting the camera on a tripod and isolating an interesting shape and then, getting a ladder, standing on it and flashing the flash from the side and or back , the photo would have been more dramatic.  It just lacks depth and specificity as it is right now.  But what I don't know is if you want this kind of comment, and remember, in the end it is your picture and you have your own purpose for taking it.  Joe
